thumbsucking...

You finally did it! You stopped sucking your thumb. We've been working on it for years. We tried putting socks on your hands while you sleep, painting your nails with stuff from the grocery store, turning off movies when you put your thumb in your mouth, etc. Finally we bought the Barbie of your dreams, brought it home and said if you could make it 10 days in a row without sucking your thumb, this Barbie was yours. You worked SO HARD! But you couldn't stop at night. We'd come in to tuck you in and you'd have your thumb in your mouth. AH! You'd be sitting on the couch, watching a show and you'd not realize your thumb was in your mouth. We went to the dentist 3 weeks ago and man! She said it's important now. Showed me lots of pics and told me to get this: Malva Stop. It worked! You stopped! Congrats little one. I'm so proud of you!

I sent this email to all your family:

This is a picture of Claire and the Barbie she picked out for when she stopped sucking her thumb! Notice the chalk in her hair and her Barbie's. It was pretty important to her. We are so proud of her!!
Matthew is so close, too!

These are the responses:

Way to go, Claire Bear.   You are a champ!!!  Self discipline is hard.  Gramma works on it all of the time.  Sometimes I slip up, but then I try to get back on track.  I have been playing too many games on my Ipad.  I have now gone three days without playing any. I was tempted last night but ended up being a winner.  It's hard.

Love you, Sweetheart!

Gramma Mathews
